Sri Lanka has suffered from almost three decades of civil war caused by ethnic tensions. Out of a population of around 19.2 million, approximately 83,000 individuals in Sri Lanka were registered blind in 1984, scattered across its 9 provinces.

Visiting my old School
On 23rd March 2004, I had the opportunity of visiting my old school, St Anthony?s College, Kayts, Sri Lanka, after 23 years!
The college was founded in 1872 by Rev. Fr. Boisseau, who had a vision for the children in this northern village of Sri Lanka. His work received the blessing of his episcopal superior, the vicar apostolic of Jaffna, the Rev. Fr. Christopher Bonjean.
